Hosur road, the name of no other road brings to me the same kind of emotions and memories that Hosur Road does ... it is already like a second home to me ... but wait office is already my second home .. and also, technically Delhi should be my first home ... hmm so what does it make hosur Road ... ya my very sweet fourth home.

For the uninitiated, Hosur road is arguably the most talked about road in Bangalore ... for all the wrong reasons ..(besides Banergettha road ... hope i spelled it right :P ) .. Hosur road is unlike any other road in the city .. it runs thru the entire city (ok maybe i was exaggerating) .. and all thru the road no matter which part of the city u are in .. which time of the day it is ... and which day of the year it is, the traffic is always slow on Hosur road unless it has completely stopped, that is... and thats just the normal days, all hell breaks loose when it rains

On my way to work I have spent countless hours sleeping, reading, listening to music, solving crosswords/ soduko and cursing the government. But we (me along with some of my friends) have also spent several hours coming up with solution to the whole traffic crisis that exists on Hosur road.
So after considerable brainstorming, (albeit not really taking into consideration the financial and architechture constraints) here are two of the out of the box solutions of the Hosur-road-problem

Proposition 1 : MOVABLE DIVIDERS
This is based on the age old concept of 'the Grass is always greener on the other side' or in other words 'the road is always emptier on the other side (of the divider .. that is)' ... its common knowledge that the traffic is heavy towards the electronic city (one of the parts of the city which are loaded with ... surprise surprise IT companies) in the morning and much less on the road from the elec-city, and the situation is the opposite in the evening.
So to tackle this problem, the idea was put forth that the dividers that seperate the two roads should be movable i.e the dividers should be moved according to the traffic. That is the divider should be adjusted such that there are 4 lanes in the road to elec-city in the morn, and just 2 lanes in the road from elec-city ... and the other way round in the evening.

Please note : this idea was put forward by Jimmy Talati and he is seriously contemplating patenting this, so any unauthorised reproduction of this idea will be liable to prosecution (i guess :P).. unless u bribe me.

Proposition 2 : 9 Kilometer flyover
Dont get surprised if u feel that this idea is actually being implemented. The idea was first put forward by one of us (dont really remember who), over a year back .. and all of us thought the concept was really funny and the least feasible ... we even complemented the proposer of this 'idea' for his gr8 sense of humor ....
but when i heard that this was actually being implemented, i really thought the bureaucrats who plan such stuff are no wiser than we are ... dont think they could have been smart enuff to think of the 'Movable divider' idea :D

Proposition 3 : Pareto Analysis
In honour of the great Economist who put forward the idea of "Pareto Ananlysis" or the 80:20 rule,in simple words in realation to hosur road it works on the concept that we spend 80% of the time stuck on 20% of the distance.
This idea works on maintaining a record of the time taken to travel through the hosur road over a period of serveral years, or the time taken by BMP(Bangalore Municipal Palike popularly known as the Biggest Mornons on the Planet) to fix a pot hole which ever is earlier (no points for guessing that the former will be 'earlier' coz BMP does not beleive in fixing potholes ) and then plot the findings on a graph with the distance on the X axis and the time on the Y axis.
This would help in finding out the 20% of the strech of road where we spend 80% of the time stuck in traffic, and then that 20% of the road can be dug up so that we spend even more time there.

Well i will keep adding on the list as and when the ideas keep coming in ...
If there is any actually reading this and u have an idea then please let me know .. and who knows u might get a mention in this elite list of extra-ordinary propositions (just kidding, i am sure that if u have had it in u to go thru the post then u must definately be smarter (ya rite :P) than most humans .. and would have a gr8 idea that fits the bill)
